Principles of the Autonomous Social Center [1]

  • We reject capitalism, productivism and imperialism.
  • We reject all forms and systems of domination and discrimination including, but not limited to, patriarchy, racism, heteronormativity and religious fundamentalism of all creeds. We embrace the full dignity of all human beings.
  • We hold to an organisational philosophy based on decentralisation and autonomy: direct democracy, self-determination and self-management, all built on foundations of individual and collective responsibility.
  • Ours is a call for confrontation with local, national and global capitalist and imperialist organisations, a call to direct action, civil disobedience and all other forms of resistance which maximize respect for life and oppressed peoples' rights.
  • We are committed to openness towards our neighbours, people living in the Point and community organisations, as we work to build collective alternatives to mainstream systems and institutions.
  • We are about taking back a territory first stolen from Indigenous Peoples, then from the people of the Point who gave sweat and labour to build the installations of this site located on the magnificent St. Lawrence River.
  • We are committed to building relationships of respect and solidarity amongst ourselves, but also towards nature and oppressed peoples here and abroad and their struggles for social justice.
