Pointe St Charles was stage to an important social movement in May and June 2009. As CUTV followed the family demonstration on May 29th, questions about what would happen to the Autonomous Social Center in the weeks to come abounded. This news piece retraces the beginning steps of the ASC and what has happened to it since. One question remains, what now?

Vous avez surement vu, à la télé, l’éviction brutale du Centre social autogéré qui avait mis pied à terre dans l’ancienne manufacture de chandelles sur la rue Saint-Patrick. It might be possible that we have to convene an emergency protest to support the ASC occupants – for example in the eventuality of an eviction - especially in the first moments, in the day like in the night. To be ready for this eventuality, we are preparing a back-up phone list, with contacts we will call right away. We will ask them to come as fast as possible to the ASC site to take part in a support demonstration.
